Homecoming is a time for students to get together, dance, and have a good time with their friends. Katie Fliehman, the Director of Homecoming, tells the Griffin, “Homecoming is the tradition of welcoming back former students and members to celebrate an organization’s existence.” Homecoming is an annual tradition in the United States. People, towns, high schools, and colleges come together, usually in late September or early October, to welcome back alumni and former residents. When celebrated by schools, the activities vary widely.
We interviewed Mrs. Fliehman on the details of this year’s homecoming.
Where will homecoming be held?
It will either be on the roof or in the cafeteria. It will just depend on the weather, and we won’t know that until we get closer to the date.
What is the time and date for homecoming?
7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, October 26th
What will be the theme?
Autumn Masquerade
What will the ticket price be?
$5 dollars
When will tickets go on sale?
October 1st
What will the dress code be for homecoming, for both males and females?
Homecoming is a casual to semi-formal event, so you can get as fancy as you like, but it is not required that you dress up. The dress code is the same as during school. This is a school event.
What is the behavior policy, how should students conduct themselves?
Again, this is a school event so, all policies, procedures and expectations are outlined in our students contact/handbook, which is located on our school’s website. Make sure your dance moves are appropriate…no twerking.
What type of music will be played, who is the DJ that is coming this year?
We are still working on both, but the music will be similar to last year.
