Angel Jones, a sophomore, as well as Jamiera Jones, who are both employed with Groundworks, are going to Yellowstone National Park.
The national park is located in Wyoming, they leave Aug. 6 and are camping for nine days. Groundworks is providing the plane tickets for a 4 hour plane ride to Bozeman.
They will be returning on Sunday, Aug. 15. During this nine day camping trip, the girls will be setting up their own tents; they will have sleeping bags and ground pads inside of their tents. They are required to follow all the rules they are given to ensure the safety of them, as well as everyone else attending. They were even given clothing guidelines to best fit the trip.
Angel and Jamiera were picked by leaders who say that they have picked them due to their leadership skills. They will be working on conservation projects some days, and touring the park on others. There will be no cell service, so that worries Angel, but she thinks that she’s making the right decision going camping.
“If you guys have an opportunity, take it, because it’s going to be a really good one,” Angel says. “You don’t want to miss out on any adventures in life.”
Not only is she not going to have service, this is also her first time on a plane!
“I’m a little bit scared, it’s my first time going on a plane,” she says.
Workers from other Green Team locations are also going, after being picked for the same reasons as Angel and Jamiera.
Angel says she is most excited about the sight seeing, she’s hoping to find an animal that loves her, preferably one that doesn’t want to eat her! The strict guidelines are in place to avoid that from happening.
