Oyler is excited about the new basketball coach, Lannis Timmons. Coach Timmons is well known around the Cincinnati basketball scene. “I’m a product of Cincinnati, Ohio,” he says. “I attended South Avondale School from K-4th grade, North Avondale School 5th-6th grade, and graduated from Woodward High School in
1971.” Former Head Coach, and now Athletic director, Chris O’Brien says, “Coach Timmons brings a lot of experience.” O’Brien says he is excited to have him on Oyler’s staff.

What brought you to Oyler?

“I had a hunger for coaching the game that I appreciate and love. I was on the Cincinnati School Board for the Cincinnati School District for seven months, and I was writing for the Cincinnati Herald, covering high school basketball. Being around the game as much as I was, I really knew I wanted to coach again.”

What was your career before Oyler?

“Before Oyler, I was the Head Coach at Western Hills from 1995-2001. During that time we won the Sectional and District Championship, and lost in the Regional Finals. We were also able to get 15 kids into college, five into Division I schools. From there, I coached at the University of Akron from 2001-2003. Then I went on to Woodward High School from 2003-2012. We won three sectional championships, one district championship, and got to the regional semi-finals. During that time, I coached AAU with the all-Ohio Red Summer
Basketball Program for 20 years. While coaching with All-Ohio, we had more than 200 kids get Division I scholarships, more than one hundred play professional basketball overseas, and twelve play in the NBA. Current players include Trey Burke with the New York Knicks and Terry Rozier with the Boston Celtics.”

How long have you been coaching?

“I’ve coached for 38 years–17 years as a Head Coach on the high school level, 14 years as a Head Coach for AAU, and 2 years as Assistant Coach at the college level.”
