Ms. Montgomery Proudly Celebrates a Milestone

By James Sweet

Ms. Denise Montgomery is an educational assistant at Oyler. Everybody knows her as a kind lady who has brightened everyone’s day at Oyler for thirty years. On December 5 she will be celebrating her 5th year of being cancer free. She says that her favorite part of teaching is having friendships with kids and that she feels that “every day is a blessing.” She doesn’t plan on retiring anytime soon and says “even the bad days are good.”

Her best memory of teaching is when she was selected to make artwork with First Lady Laura Bush`s Literacy Program, which allows school libraries to get more books for their students. Oyler received funding from this program in 2003. The piece of art she created is called “Love Comes in Many Colors” and was put on display in the White House. It is now housed in the First Lady’s Library.

The Oyler Griffin staff wishes her many more great years!
